Charles S. Lichtigman
Charles S. Lichtigman is founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Charles Wayne Properties, Inc. As a developer and investor Mr. Lichtigman has owned, developed and acquired office buildings, commercial subdivisions, and retail centers with an emphasis on value-added properties. He has developed in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.
Charles Wayne Properties, Inc. is one of central Florida’s largest development, commercial brokerage and real estate consulting firms, with offices in Orlando (Maitland), and Daytona Beach, and affiliates in Melbourne and Ocala, Florida. Founded in 1978 in partnership with Republic Funding Corporation (New York), the firm has developed stores and shopping centers for Publix Supermarkets, Winn Dixie, Albertson’s, Food Lion, Walgreen, and 7-Eleven, and has acted in a receivership capacity for financial institutions. As a brokerage firm it has done business with numerous banks, retailers, restaurants, homebuilders and governmental agencies. Mr. Lichtigman bought out Republic’s interest in the 1980’s.
Charles Wayne’s recent projects include acquisition, renovation and retenanting of the Fifth Third Bank Building (the Daytona Beach area’s largest multi-tenant office building), the acquisition and upgrading of three Orlando area office buildings, the retenanting of Sanlando Commerce Center in Altamonte Springs, Florida, the renovation of the 107,000 sf Granada Plaza Shopping Center in Ormond Beach, Florida, and the subdivision and marketing of 80 acres of Interstate interchange frontage in Central Florida.
A graduate of Yale Law School, Mr. Lichtigman served in prior years as Vice President of ITT Community Development Corporation, with responsibility for its commercial, industrial and residential activities (1972 – 1978). Under his direction, over 2,000 homes or condominiums were built, and several other projects developed, including the Palm Harbor Shopping Center (anchored by Publix Supermarket and Eckerd Drug Store), the Palm Coast West Commerce/Industrial Park and ITTCDC Corporate Headquarters.
From 1969 to 1972, Mr. Lichtigman was Assistant to the President of Sun Chemical Corporation where he was responsible for planning, financial and acquisition functions. He worked in mergers, acquisitions and long-range planning for the $360 million paper group of the then Continental Can Company (1966-1969).
Mr. Lichtigman has served in numerous civic and business organizations. These include Daytona Beach Community College, at which he served as Trustee and Chairman of the Board for eight years, Coastal Educational Broadcasters (Public TV – Chairman and Board Member), SouthTrust Bank of Florida, N.A. (Director and Member of the Audit and Executive Committees), Daytona Beach/Halifax Area Chamber of Commerce (Director), the Economic Development Commission of Mid-Florida, Children’s Home Society, and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is past Chairman of the Halifax Area Civic League and is a founder of Gateway Banks of Florida and currently serves as a director and Chairman of its Asset and Liability Committee and member of the Loan Committee. Mr. Lichtigman is a Senior Judge for the Classic Car Club of America. He is married to the former Anne Lambert, has two children and two grandchildren.
